Digvijaya Singh Should Be Ashamed For Comparing PFI With RSS: BJP MP Sushil Modi

Sushil Kumar Modi criticised Digvijay Singh for equating the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the Popular Front of India (PFI) saying he ought to be 'ashamed.'

New Delhi: Sushil Kumar Modi, a senior member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Sunday criticised Congress leader Digvijay Singh for equating the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the Popular Front of India (PFI), saying that Singh ought to be "ashamed" for doing so.

While reacting to Singh's comment about the comparison, Sushil Modi told news agency ANI: "Digvijaya Singh has always supported those who are terrorists, who were the supporters of the terrorists of Batla House. Today, his condition is such that he has not been able to come to the power in Madhya Pradesh even after 20 years. He is comparing it with RSS whose patriotism is unquestionable."

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh called the RSS and VHP "ek hi thali ke chatte batte" while talking about central agencies' raids on the Popular Front of India (PFI).

Singh on Saturday said "Action should be taken against all those who spread hatred and violence. Why action is not being taken against RSS & Vishva Hindu Parishad? They (PFI-RSS) are 'Ek hi thaali ke chatte-batte'."

In his response, Former Bihar deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi said, "PFI organisations which were plotting to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi were conspiring to create tension within the gathering."

He said that Singh's assertion promotes groups that want to turn India into a "Muslim nation by 2047" and whose bank accounts have been discovered to contain more than Rs 100 crore.

"Digvijaya Singh should be ashamed. He is supporting an organisation which is being opposed even by the government ruling in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, i.e, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)," the BJP MP remarked, as quoted by ANI.

As many as 171 individuals were imprisoned and 368 others were detained during the PFI "hartal" (protest) in Kerala in connection with many violent occurrences around the state.

According to sources cited by ANI, 71 buses operated by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) were damaged and 12 employees suffered injuries as a result of various protests. The majority of buses were targeted in stone pelting.
