Even 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' Annoys Didi: PM Modi During Bengal Visit

It may be recalled here that the TMC chief had walked out of an event on the occasion of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 125th birth anniversary after a section of the audience raised 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans. She also refused to deliver her speech during the event on January 23 also attended by the Prime Minister.

Escalating his attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the run-up to the high voltage assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took a jibe at the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and said she gets frustrated and annoyed even if slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ are raised.

“In Bengal, if you ask Didi (Mamata Banerjee) about your right then she gets frustrated. She even gets annoyed if slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' are raised,” he said during his speech in Haldia, West Bengal.

She also refused to deliver her speech during the event on January 23 also attended by the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Modi also used the occasion to hit out at the Left.

“In the first year of Mamata Government, it became clear that what Bengal had got was not 'parivartan' but revival of Left and that too with interest. The revival of Left meant revival of corruption, crime, violence and attacks on democracy,” he said.

Earlier on Saturday, BJP president J.P. Nadda took potshots at the TMC supremo stating the people of West Bengal will bid “tata” (goodbye) to Banerjee and her party after the assembly elections.

“Poribortan Yatra begins here. It is a change of not only the government but also of thinking,” Nadda said while flagging off the ‘Poribortan Yatra’ from Nabadwip in Nadia district.

West Bengal is scheduled to go to polls with Assam in April-May this year.
