New Delhi: India is crumbling with the paramount problem by the movement of millions of migrant laborers who are now crossing state borders to reach their villages. This may put the country in an unprecedented situation as the coronavirus pandemic is now on the move. People gathering at one spot in large numbers is somewhere rendering new hotspots for the virus.
To deal with this migration the Ministry of Home Affairs has given out strict enforcement of lockdown measures and also to mitigate the economic hardship of the migrant workers.
- It is the responsibility of the State/Union Territory Governments to make sufficient arrangement of temporary shelters and also provide food to the ones in need.
- The people who have stepped out to reach their native places, must be kept in the nearest shelter. The migrants must be properly screened and quarantined for a minimum period of 14 days.
- The employers of any kind must make payment of wages of their workers without any deduction, at their work place and on the due date.
- For one month the landlords are strictly advised not to ask for rent to these migrants. The landlords can't force the laborers or students to vacate their premises. Strict action will be taken against the ones found guilty under the Act.
