Arvind Kejriwal Implores To Migrant Workers Not To Leave For Native Places

Arvind Kejriwal appealed not to make any kind of movement as it may impel COVID-19 to spread on a far-ranging level. He also further said that controlling this pandemic would become hard to prevent if migrations continue to happen.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced a complete lockdown of the national capital from 6 am on Monday. The lockdown will continue till March 31. Amidst this lockdown, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal through his tweet implored migrant workers not to leave for their native places. Recently while speaking to the media through a digital press conference, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that the government has operationalized 568 Hunger Relief Centres in schools, apart from 238-night shelters. He also said that the ration from April in around 1,000 ration shops has reached and will soon be distributed. Taking to Twitter, he asked the migrant workers to stay wherever they were as the risk of the coronavirus spreading increases due to large gatherings. Thousands of migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand have started walking back to their homes due to the lockdown. In his tweets in Hindi, Kejriwal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also appealed to people to stay wherever they are. "I assure you that the Delhi government has made sufficient arrangements for your food and accommodation. "For now, do not go to your villages in the country's interest," the chief minister wrote on Twitter. The capital is in lockdown, the public transport is completely closed and borders are sealed which forced the migrant labourers to walk.
