'Congress Insults Ambedkar': BJP On Sam Pitroda's Purported Post Crediting Nehru For India's Constitution

Congress leader Sam Pitroda is under fire for an alleged post on B.R. Ambedkar's contribution to the Indian Constitution as he allegedly asserted that Jawaharlal Nehru, not Ambedkar, played a more significant role.

Senior Congress leader and technocrat Sam Pitroda is under fire for an alleged post on former law minister B.R. Ambedkar's contribution to the Indian Constitution. According to a purported screenshot, Pitroda allegedly asserted that Jawaharlal Nehru, not Ambedkar, played a more significant role in shaping the Constitution. Sharing an article by political activist Sudheendra Kulkarni, he allegedly posted, "Nehru contributed more to the Constitution and not Ambedkar."

"Who Contributed More to the Constitution and Its Preamble? Nehru, NOT Ambedkar "Babasaheb ka diya hua Samvidhan Ambedkar is the Father of the Indian Dr Constitution" is the biggest falsification of our country's modern history," he allegedly stated quoting the article.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has condemned the remarks as party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accused the Congress of consistently disrespecting Ambedkar, alleging that the party has a history of opposing him, denying him Bharat Ratna, and defeating him in elections.

Poonawalla commented, "Congress insults Ambedkar ji again. Now on instructions from Rahul Gandhi, Sam Pitroda has insulted Ambedkar ji & has denied his contributions to Constitution itself. These are words of Sam but feelings do Sonia & Rahul who hate Ambedkar & SC samaj."

BJP leader Tom Vadakkan took to X and remarked that neither Sudheen Kulkarni nor Sam Pitroda should be considered "as historians of the country's modern history". "Don't even try to create a narrative," he wrote.

Speaking to news agency ANI, BSP MP Malook Nagar expressed strong condemnation for anyone targeting Babasaheb Ambedkar. He demanded an apology from the Congress leadership, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi, and sought clarification on whether Sam Pitroda's remarks represented a personal stance or the official position of the Congress.

"How can one be spared if he targets Babasaheb Ambedkar who is a Messiah for the marginalised communities of India? I cannot understand what has happened to the Congress. On one hand, they become Hindus during elections, while on the other, they refused to visit the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and you are speaking against it...If you speak against Babasaheb, it is certain that you will not remain neither here nor there... Congress leadership like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, (Mallikarjun) Kharge, or Priyanka (Gandhi) should apologise to the nation, and clarify whether Sam Pitroda's views are personal or on behalf of the Congress or is he an agent of someone who wants to weaken the country or kill the Congress," he said.

"(With statements like these) Congress party's death is certain," the BSP leader opined.

He further called for legal action against Pitroda, insisting that an FIR should be filed and strict measures taken.

The Congress party and Sam Pitroda are yet to respond to the allegations and remarks.
