Chhattisgarh: Two Persons Stripped, Thrashed And Paraded For 'Selling Beef' In Bilaspur
As per police statement, 33.5 kg of beef was recovered from the accused and they were taken into custody. The two were produced in court on Wednesday.

New Delhi: Two persons were stripped, thrashed and paraded for alleged cow slaughtering and selling beef in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur on Wednesday.
A video of the incident, that has gone viral on the social media, shows two persons, stripped to their undergarments, being paraded through the street as a crowd follows.
According to reports, the duo, identified as Narsingh Das (50) and Ramnivas Mehar (52), was carrying a sack filled with beef behind the High Court Colony in Bilaspur. On receiving information, some locals reached the spot that led to the ensuing ruckus.

According to police, a person named Sumit Nayak registered a complaint, and alleged that the duo was riding a two-wheeler loaded with a white sack. When the complainant and the other locals asked them what was in the sack, they replied that it had beef. Both of them have been arrested and over 33 kg of beef was recovered, police said.
As per police statement, 33.5 kg of beef was recovered from the accused and they were taken into custody. The two were produced in court on Wednesday.
The police have further said that the recovered meat was examined by a veterinary doctor, but there are no details regarding the report of this examination.
Police further said that on reaching the spot, they pacified the agitated mob and assured of taking action against the accused. A case under relevant sections has also been registered.
However, there is no information on whether any action has been taken against the people involved in stripping the accused and whipping them on the street.
