Where Is Proof Of Surgical Strike, Asks Channi; BJP Hits Back With 'Pakistan Working Committee' Jibe

Pahalgam terror attak: BJP's Sambit Patra has accused the Congress of aiding anti-national narratives after Channi questioned the 2019 surgical strikes and sought proof.

In a sharp attack on the Congress party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sambit Patra on May 3 slammed the Congress's stance on national security issues. Sambit Patra, who is also a BJP spokesperson, accused the Congress of promoting anti-national elements with its comments, especially in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

Patra said, "The Congress and the Gandhi family have never taken terrorism seriously. Whenever the nation is attacked, Congress demands proof and questions the Prime Minister's 56-inch chest." He added that such remarks demoralise the armed forces and benefit only Pakistan.

Further intensifying his criticism, Patra said, "Congress gives oxygen to Pakistan's military and terrorists. Every day, a Congress leader makes a statement that appears to support Pakistan."

He said: "After the proposals were passed in the [Congress Working Committee] meeting, the Congress party held another press conference. This conference was led by former Chief Minister of Punjab and current MP from a bordering state, Charanjit Singh Channi."

"Strategically, Congress planned this press conference right after the CWC meeting, where Kharge would speak about the resolution, while Channi would hold a parallel press conference. Channi said that the surgical strike by the Indian Air Force on Pakistan in 2019 after the Pulwama attack was fake and never actually happened..."

What Did Charanjit Singh Channi Say?

Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, in a press conference, said that there was no surgical strike by India on Pakistan. "If a bomb explodes in our nation, would we not know? There was no surgical strike... I have always asked for proof [of surgical strike]."

"We demand the identification of those involved [in the Pahalgam terror strike] and punish them," he added.
