A saree for a rupee to promote demonetisation in Karnataka

New Delhi: An innovative method to promote and celebrate demonetisation was seen in Karnataka where a small cloth shop owner came up with his own prize scheme. Since sunday, the trader has been selling sarees for Re.1 each with only one condition being that the payment has to be made with a Re. 1 note. No coins to be accepted. Reportedly, according to the trader, demonetisation is all about notes. The move comes as a surprise given the huge amount of suffering that thousands are going through the country. In a video shared by Tv9 Gujarati, the shop is shown to be thronged by crowds to make most of the one-rupee saree offer. The shop is virtually swamped with women and even shows sparking fear of a stampede. Interestingly, one rupee notes aren't that easy to get but the video shows hundreds of people with the smallest currency note.
