After releasing teasers on its social media channel, Ducati has finally launched the ‘Enduro’ version of the Ducati Multistrada 1260. And like its predecessor, the changes are more than skin deep. Let’s take a look at them

In terms of design, the Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro looks almost similar to the Multistrada 1260, with the only exception being the all-new sand paint scheme with a two-tone seat, new livery and larger 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels shod with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II off-road tyres.

Just like how the 1200 Enduro was powered by the Multi 1200’s engine, the 1260 Enduro packs the same heart as the updated Multistrada 1260. This means it now comes with a 1262cc L-twin motor tuned for more low-to-mid range grunt. It produces 158PS of power and 128Nm of torque. However, 85 per cent of the torque is available from as low as 3500rpm. The other noteworthy change over the older model includes the addition of ride-by-wire throttle for a more linear response.

For better off-road performance, Ducati has revised the ergonomics on the 1260 Enduro. The frame has shed some weight while the centre of gravity is now lower, allowing for better balance on and off the road. The seat and the handlebar now sit lower than before, offering better balance. Then there is a new double-sided swingarm instead of the single-sided one seen on other 1260 models. It also gets a new Sachs suspension setup, which works in sync with Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) Evolution Control System.

This system constantly measures the road surface with respect to the weight of the rider, pillion and luggage to continuously adjust rebound and compression damping to offer a plusher ride.

As for features, it gets a 5-inch TFT instrument console with a more user-friendly interface for better control over the bike’s settings. It is also connected to the IMU (inertial measurement unit), which helps it control new functions like switching off the hazard lights when leaned over.

Considering Ducati sells its entire Multistrada portfolio here, it is expected to bring the 1260 Enduro to India as well. As far as pricing is concerned, we expect it to be priced north of Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
