Delhi News: CJP Protesters Stage Sit-In Outside Police Station, Seek Stronger Action in Jantar Mantar Case
The Jantar Mantar assault controversy continued to escalate as CJP supporters staged a sit-in outside Parliament Street Police Station, demanding stronger sections in the case involving Sanjay Kumar’s head injury. CJP leaders Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Rana were seen speaking with Delhi Police personnel near the station gate, while other supporters remained seated on the road behind police barricades and raised slogans. The leaders were reportedly seeking permission for a delegation to meet senior police officials and submit their concerns over the FIR. As the number of protesters increased, additional barricading and police deployment were visible outside the station. The focus of the protest remained the sections applied in the case and the demand for stricter action over the July 23 clash at Jantar Mantar. Meanwhile, Delhi Police has presented its version of the incident, stating that Sanjay Kumar sustained the head injury during the scuffle when he was allegedly struck by a metal bangle worn on another person’s hand. Police said Sanjay was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for medical examination and that doctors assessed the injury. According to the police version cited in the report, the medical findings did not indicate that the injury was caused by a weapon and the injury was not considered serious. With protesters continuing their demonstration outside the police station and discussions taking place between their representatives and police personnel, attention is now on whether the delegation will be allowed to meet senior officers and whether the sections in the case will be reviewed.
