Cyclone Update: Tamil Nadu Braces For ‘Bruvei’ Set To Hit Coasts On December 4, IMD Warns Of Heavy Rain
After cyclone Nivar, Tamil Nadu is bracing for another one which is set to hit the coast on December 4.
New Delhi: Cyclone Burevi is heading for Tamil Nadu and is expected to hit the coast on December 4. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) at present, the Burevi lay centered about 330 km Esat-Southeast of Trincomalee.To cross Sri Lanka coast close to Trincomalee on 2 Dec. evening/night. To emerge into Gulf of Mannar on 3rd Dec. morning & cross south TN between Kanniyakumari and Pamban on 4th early morning.
The IMD has also given rainfall warning for south-north TN, Puducherry, Karaikal, south-north Kerala, Mahe, south coastal Andhra & Lakshadweep till Dec 4. A red-color coded warning has been issued for the southern states of the country including Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The warning said that these areas are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall due to the upcoming storm.

The met department has also said that the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm by late Tuesday night which is likely to hit the southern state. Bracing for Bruvei the cyclone warning cage has also been mounted on Pamban Bridge. he IMD in view of the upcoming cyclonic storm that is brewing in the Bay of Bengal and is likely to hit the Indian coasts in December. Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into sea.
The cyclone Nivar, which hit the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry last week battered the region. As part of the rescue operation, as many as 2.3 lakh people were evacuated from the coastal and were housed in the cyclone shelters.
