Where did this “core” trend come from?

It traces back to the Latin word cor, meaning heart. Culturally, it found new life in the 1980s punk scene with “hard-core” music. Over time, “core” evolved to label not just intense subcultures but entire lifestyle aesthetics. The original meaning of “hardcore” described intense commitment, which was used to describe passionate supporters in musical scenes and political groups observed during 1950s news about “hardcore Communists”.
