'Who Is BTS?' Alka Yagnik Asked Her Daughter After Surpassing K-Pop Band For Highest YouTube Streams

Syesha, Alka Yagnik's daughter, highlighted how significant it was that her mother had outdone BTS.

New Delhi: Only months ago, it was announced that singer Alka Yagnik has accomplished another milestone in her career when she defeated the BTS, BLACKPINK, and Taylor Swift on YouTube. She emerged as the most internationally watched artist on YouTube in 2022 with a stunning 15.3 billion streams with an average of 42 million streams daily, as recognized by the Guinness World Record.

In a recent chat with Radio Nasha, Alka Yagnik told that she was unconcerned by the statistics and figures because she did not fully grasp the gravity of the whole affair. According to Alka Yagnik, her daughter was the one who broke down what it meant.

Syesha, her daughter, highlighted how significant it was that her mother had outdone BTS, a popular K-pop group known throughout the world. Alka, however, had no idea who BTS was.

Alka said, "I asked Syesha, ‘who is BTS?". She said that her daughter had a good laugh at her question. “She was rolling on the phone. She said mom you are just too much," Alka added.

She informed Alka of the meteoric rise in her digital streams. Singing it off-hand, “I said good, good, great,” the artist was cool about it. The singer went on to say that her daughter was completely taken aback by her mild response.

Alka said that she doesn't give a hoot about numbers as long as her fans are happy with her work. She said, "Mere liye jyada stream ho raha hai, kam stream ho raha hai, it doesn’t matter (How much streams I have gained, be it more or less doesn’t matter) People who are listening, they’re happy, they’re loving me, they’re liking me, and they’ve accepted me with open arms for so many years. For me, that’s in itself a big thing."

“Ye to numbers hai, abhi ye number 1 hai, abhi ye number 2 hojaayega (These are numbers, today it is number 1, tomorrow it might be number 2). These are just numbers,” she added.

"I was happy. But when she made me realize the magnitude of the whole thing, I was very happy. I was very grateful to god. I really feel blessed," she concluded.

In 2022, Yagnik had the most views on YouTube followed by Bad Bunny. BTS, BLACKPINK, The Weekend, Taylor Swift, and Drake all made the list of top artists.
