'If You Shove Camera In My Face Without Consent...': Taapsee Pannu On Her Relationship With Paparazzi

Taapsee Pannu addresses the ongoing scrutiny over her interactions with the paparazzi.

New Delhi: Taapsee Pannu has opened up about her often-misunderstood relationship with the paparazzi. The actress addressed the perception of her as 'difficult,' attributing it to the paparazzi's pursuit of clickbait photos. Despite what the paparazzi may think, the actress insists she is "just being real" when she interacts with them.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Taapsee Pannu emphasised the need for mutual respect, stating, “As a pap, if you talk to me, and I’ll have a conversation, but if you press my buttons saying, “Your last film didn’t work, how does it feel?’ or ‘Itni der se khade hain, photo to de do (We are standing for so long, at least give us a photo)’, then I’m not going to indulge you. There needs to be mutual respect."

Taapsee Pannu on 'Lajvanti' behaviour

Taapsee also critiqued the trend of 'Lajvanti' behaviour among celebrities, where individuals act overly submissive and sweet with the paparazzi. Refusing to conform to this stereotype, she said, “If you shove the camera in my face without my consent at places where I’m not in a professional capacity, it's not fair to expect me to be suddenly entertaining you. I feel I am allowed to have a life beyond my work as an entertainer, too.”

Earlier also, Taapsee claimed that many photographers fail to remember that celebrities are public figures, not property. She said, "Lately, with the social-media culture, anyone with a camera or a phone is a paparazzi. The camera gives you a one-sided narrative. It is very easy in today’s day and age to target a person and demean that person by putting out one-sided videos. We are not morons. We are not illiterates to lose our cool on video without reason."
