Nayanthara Netflix Docu: Actress Accuses Dhanush Of Hindering Release, Asks 'Does Producer Become An Emperor?'

The move comes after Dhanush sent a legal notice to Nayanthara seeking compensation over use of certain clips in the documentary without authorisation.

The Tamil film industry witnessed a heated exchange as actress Nayanthara penned an open letter accusing actor Dhanush of intentionally delaying the release of her much-anticipated 'Netflix' documentary. The documentary, which delves into Nayanthara’s life, career, and marriage, reportedly faced hurdles due to Dhanush's refusal to grant permissions for using content from the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a pivotal project in her career.

The documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale is set to release on November 18.

The move comes after Dhanush sent a legal notice to Nayanthara seeking compensation over use of certain clips in the documentary without authorisation. In the letter addressed to "Mr. Dhanush K Raja," Nayanthara also revealed that the trailer of the Netflix documentary prompted a legal notice from Dhanush, in which he demanded Rs 10 crores as damages for the alleged misuse of three seconds of behind-the-scenes footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. She labeled the notice as "an all-time low" and accused Dhanush of projecting a misleading public persona at audio launches and public events.

Nayanthara expressed disappointment over the two-year struggle to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the documentary. She alleged that Dhanush’s refusal to permit the usage of songs, visuals, or photographs from the film stemmed from personal grievances rather than legal or business reasons.

The actress also criticised the actor-producer for his alleged ego-driven disdain toward the success of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a film she described as a blockbuster cherished by fans to this day. She referred to his behavior during award ceremonies in 2016 as evidence of his dissatisfaction with the film's acclaim.

Directed at Dhanush, Nayanthara said, "The world is a big place, it's meant for everyone. It's okay for people you know to come up in life. It's okay for normal people with no background in cinema to make it big. Search It's okay if some people make connections and are happy. It doesn't take away anything from you. it's only an ode to their work, blessings and people's kindness."
