Tollywood and Kollywood fans are celebrating as two major releases—'Nani's 'HIT: The Third Case' and Suriya's 'Retro'—opened to a roaring response at the box office on Thursday. Both films registered double-digit openings, collecting a combined total of nearly Rs. 38 crore nett on Day 1.

'HIT 3' and 'Retro' Box Office Collection Day 1

As per trade reports from Sacnilk.com, Nani’s ‘HIT: The Third Case’ earned approximately Rs. 18 crore nett on its opening day. The film performed exceptionally well in the Telugu market, bringing in around Rs. 17.25 crore, while collections in the Tamil market were comparatively low at Rs. 0.35 crore nett.

On the other hand, Suriya’s much-anticipated film ‘Retro’ outpaced 'HIT 3' with a Day 1 collection of Rs. 19.25 crore nett. The film saw its strongest performance in the Tamil Nadu market, raking in an impressive Rs. 17.25 crore, while the Telugu market contributed Rs. 1.95 crore nett.

Performance in the Hindi Market

Both 'HIT 3' and 'Retro' failed to make a significant impact in the Hindi-speaking belt, where Ajay Devgn's 'Raid 2' continues to dominate. 'Raid 2' collected Rs. 18 crore nett on Thursday, outperforming the southern releases in North India.

Weekend Projections

With strong regional support and positive word of mouth, both 'HIT 3' and 'Retro' are expected to surpass the Rs. 50 crore mark by the end of the first weekend. The actual performance will depend on how the films hold up through Saturday and Sunday.

About the Films

‘HIT: The Third Case’ is an intense action thriller featuring Nani as Arjun Sarkar, a no-nonsense cop investigating a high-profile murder trial. The film has been described as gritty and violent by sections of the audience, staying true to the HIT franchise’s dark tone.

‘Retro’, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, showcases Suriya in a gritty, dramatic avatar, blending action and emotion. The film explores powerful themes of love, loyalty, and violence, resonating with fans of mass entertainers.
