Saira Banu Reveals She Is 'Extremely Distressed' After Dilip Kumar's Death, Desperately Longs For His Presence

In a recent interview to ETimes, she opened up about reports doing the rounds that she has gone into a shell.

New Delhi: Veteran actress Saira Banu has not been able to overcome the loss of her late husband and superstar Dilip Kumar, originally named Yusuf Khan. The veteran actor left for his heavenly abode on July 7, last year, at the age of 98 after a long ailment. Saira Banu, who was married to Dilip Saab for more than six decades, has still not been able to overcome his loss and feels 'extremely distressed'.

In a recent interview to ETimes, she opened up about reports doing the rounds that she has gone into a shell. She said, "I am extremely distressed; I cannot get out of the loss. How do I get out of it? I just can't."

She further continued, "And, I was doing everything very happily too. Everything was so fine, just the two of us together. I loved sitting at home with Sahab. Anyway, I am not an outgoing person or a party person. Today, I don't want to step out."

The veteran actress told that she would prefer not to step out till the time she stops feeling distressed. She also admitted that she is not mingling with people and is meeting only her close friends. She also expressed her gratitude for the presence of some really loving and caring people in her life, and feels lucky to have people who are so concerned about her.

Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu are one of the legendary couples of Bollywood. After the superstar's demise last year, his breaved wife has not been able to gather herself up and constantly yearns for his presence in her life.

Saira Banu said, "It is just that I need Sahab so desperately in my life."

Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu had tied-the-knot in 1966. The couple stood by each other through thick and thin, till July 7 2021, when Dilip Kumar breathed his last.

In a career spanning over five decades, Dilip Kumar gave the film industry some real gems which will continue to mark his place as a legend in the entertainment industry.
