PM Narendra Modi Congratulates RRR, The Elephant Whisperers For Oscars Win: ‘India Is Elated And Proud'

'Naatu Naatu' and ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ created history at the 95th Academy Awards by winning the prestigious award.

New Delhi: 'Naatu Naatu' and ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ created history at the 95th Academy Awards by winning the prestigious award. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on the moment of national pride in his latest tweet.

‘Naatu Naatu’ from SS Rajamouli's RRR, which featured Ram Charan and Jr NTR, won the coveted golden trophy. The Best Original Song award went to M.M. Keeravani's rousing song.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his congratulations to the team, saying, "The popularity of ‘Naatu Naatu’ is global. It will be a song that will be remembered for years to come. Congratulations to @mmkeeravaani, @boselyricist and the entire team for this prestigious honour."

Jaishankar, India's Minister of External Affairs, M. Venkaiah Naidu, India's former Vice President, and Mallikarjun Kharge, President of the Congress Party, all sent their congratulations to the RRR team after their victory.

‘Naatu Naatu’ was up against songs like ‘Raise Me Up’ from Black Panther, ‘This Is A Life’ from Everything Everywhere All at Once, and ‘Applause’ from Tell It Like a Woman in the category for best original song. 

The song has already won the Golden Globe and the Critics' Choice Awards for Best Original Song. The song's win at the Oscars has undoubtedly boosted India's pride.

Narendra Modi also congratulated everyone from ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ team as they won in the Best Documentary Short category. He tweeted, "Congratulations to @EarthSpectrum , @guneetm and the entire team of ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ for this honour. Their work wonderfully highlights the importance of sustainable development and living in harmony with nature."

'The Elephant Whisperers' is a heartwarming story of an indigenous couple who have been given an orphaned elephant, Raghu to look after. The story follows the couple's journey as they relentlessly work to ensure Raghu's recovery and survival. This short documentary marks the directorial debut of Kartiki Gonsalves.
