Mark Your Calendars! Taapsee Pannu's 'Shabaash Mithu' Gets A Release Date

Shabaash Mithu, which is based on the life of Indian women's national cricket team captain Mithali Raj, will release next year.

New Delhi: Taapsee Pannu starrer 'Shabaash Mithu' has been making waves ever since the makers announced the project. The sports drama will showcase the story of Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj, who is considered one of the most successful female cricketers. On the occasion of Mithali's birthday, the producers of the film announced the release date. 

When Is ‘Shabaash Mithu’ Releasing? 

The much-awaited flick will hit the silver screens on February 4, 2022. Taapsee Pannu, known for her acting prowess, will be seen essaying the titular role in the film.  The talented actress, who was last seen in 'Rashmi Rocket', shared a new poster to reveal the release date of 'Shabaash Mithu'.

"ONE GIRL with HER CRICKET BAT has shattered world records and stereotypes. You’ve done it all Champ… Happy Birthday Mithu @mithaliraj #ShabaashMithu in theatres on 4|02|2022."

The makers of 'Shabaash Mithu' have filmed important sequences across domestic and international locations including the United Kingdom to aptly bring alive Mithali Raj's inspiring journey on the silver screen.

Produced by Viacom18 Studios, the highly anticipated flick is directed by Srijit Mukherji. It also stars Vijay Raaz in a key role.

Sports dramas seem to be the flavour of the season as many filmmakers have produced movies, which chronicled the journey of sportsperson. Farhan Akhtar starrer ‘Toofan’ focused on the story of national level boxer while Taapsee Pannu’s ‘Rashmi Rocket’ revolved around a female athlete, was subjected to gender testing. 

Ranveer Singh is gearing up for the release of ‘83’, which is based on India’s 1983 Cricket World Cup victory. Shahid Kapoor will entertain the audience with a heartwarming story of a cricketer, who returns to the game for the sake of his son, in his next film titled 'Jersey'. The trailers of '83' and 'Jersey' have received a positive response from the fans on YouTube and social media.
