Calls For Apology Grow Over Sanjay Raut’s Derogatory Remarks Against Mumbai-Bound Kangana Ranaut

People have come out in demand for an apology from Shiv Sena leaded Sanjay Raut over his abusive remarks for actress Kangana Ranaut.

Politics stooped to a new low after Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut used derogatory remarks against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut for being bold and vocal in the Sushant Singh Rajput case and speaking about the Bollywood Mafia. While talking to a news channel, senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, in a derogatory statement, abused Kangana Ranaut and threatened to insult her father after the actor’s tweet comparing Mumbai to Pakistan occupied Kashmir went viral. While female actresses criticised Kangana for her Mumbai statement and said that Mumbai is the safest city to work on as a female, none of the women actresses except Dia Mirza chided Sanjay Raut for using such an expletive statement against a woman. Expressing her displeasure for the kind of language used by Sanjay Raut, Dia stood in support of Kangana and strongly condemned the derogatory remark. Dia said," Sir you have every right to express your displeasure for what Kangana has said but you must apologise for using such language.” Condemning Sanjay Raut's reaction, a Twitter user wrote, "Sanjay Raut is saying that @KanganaTeam said things against Shiva Ji Maharaj. It’s a lie. She has never said anything against the great Shiva Ji. A woman is being abused publicly by people in power and the so-called “freedom of speech warriors” will not even say a word. SHAME!!" Unfazed by the criticism on social media, Sanjay Raut tweeted a few hours ago in Hindi. " Don't try to evaluate my courage, I have changed the direction of many storms." The country has been witnessing an unprecedented rise in name-calling and personal abuse, be it Kangana Ranaut or Rhea Chakraborty. Such response from political leaders is one of the reasons which undermines every effort made to build a safe/equal society for women. Unfortunately, many women are also perpetuating this culture. While we promote Feminism, fight for it but when the time comes to speak up, it is generally the feminists who choose to remain silent. Why? A senior politician abusing a woman on Live TV shows how disgraceful people are towards women and this catcalling and abusing is slowly becoming a new normal in the country which needs to be stopped. Condescending women or condemning their bold behavior doesn't make anybody brave but it shows the society we live in and how dirty and brazen one can be Every time a Lakshman Rekha is being crossed but it is the woman who faces the wrath of people which is brutal and shameful. It's high time the women should stand with each other and punish those who dare to speak wrongly of them. Also Watch|Will think about it if Kangana apologises: Sanjay Raut
