Ajay Devgn's much-anticipated 'Raid 2' hit theatres across India on May 1, and it wasted no time making a mark at the box office. Serving as the sequel to the 2018 hit ‘Raid’, the film brings back Devgn in his intense avatar, joined this time by Vaani Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh in pivotal roles.

Raid 2 box office collection

According to early estimates reported by Sacnilk.com, ‘Raid 2’ delivered a solid opening, raking in over Rs 18 crore on its first day, with a nationwide occupancy rate of 34.36 per cent. ‘Raid 2’ saw its strongest performance in Maharashtra, a consistent stronghold for Ajay Devgn, followed by solid numbers in Gujarat, Delhi, and West Bengal.

While early reviews have been mixed with a slight tilt toward the positive, industry tracker Sacnilk predicts a possible dip in collections on Friday, May 2. However, the film is expected to regain momentum over the weekend, with projections indicating a “solid jump” in earnings on Saturday and Sunday. Based on current trends, ‘Raid 2’ is likely to post a weekend total in the range of Rs 65 to Rs 75 crore net.

Sailesh Kolanu’s ‘HIT: The Third Case’, the latest installment in his Homicide Intervention Team franchise, hit theatres on May 1. Featuring Nani, Srinidhi Shetty, and Prateik Smita Patil in lead roles, the crime thriller had a strong start at the box office. As per Sacnilk, the film earned an impressive Rs 18 crore net across India on its opening day.

According to a report by Sacnilk, ‘Retro’ has garnered Rs 19.25 crore at the Indian box office from its multilingual release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. While the Suriya-starrer has had a steady start, its performance over the extended weekend will be critical in determining whether the film turns into a box office success.
