Bholaa Box Office Collection Day 2: Ajay Devgn’s Actioner Earns Rs 7.40 Crore On Friday
Nani starrer 'Dasara', which has had a huge pan-Indian distribution, is competing with Ajay Devgn’s ‘Bholaa’.
New Delhi: ‘Bholaa’, the action-adventure film starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, is making a respectable sum at the box office. Following a promising double-digit debut, the film's ticket sales naturally declined on the following Friday, a working day. After bringing in around Rs 10.50 crores on its opening day, the film only made about Rs 7.40 crores on its second. The movie has to match its first day's performance on Saturday to maintain its momentum throughout the week.
On Saturday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Bholaa slips on Day 2… The decline was on the cards, since Thu was #RamNavmi holiday, while Fri was a working day… Thu 11.20 cr, Fri 7.40 cr. Total: ₹ 18.60 cr. #India biz. #Bholaa needs to cover lost ground on Sat and Sun… Biz on Sat should witness an upturn, with bigger circuits giving the film that extra push."
Nani's ‘Dasara’, which has had a huge pan-Indian distribution, poses a threat to Ajay Devgn’s ‘Bholaa’. With a global opening of Rs 38 crore, ‘Dasara’ had one of Nani's highest-grossing starts.
Both 'Bholaa' and 'Dasara' are big-budget crowd-pleasers that will bring in many moviegoers this weekend.
The other Hindi films now playing had drops in attendance of 10% for ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’ and 20% for ‘Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway’, respectively, from the previous day.
'Bholaa' is the Hindi remake of Tamil hit 'Kaithi', which was written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. A former prisoner (Karthi) decides to meet his daughter for the first time after being let out, but he gets caught up in a faceoff between the police and the drug lords.
The ABPLive review of the movie reads: 'Bholaa' is a mass-entertainer film and worth a weekend watch. Ajay Devgn's attempt as a director is earnest and despite the film's problems manages to keep you hooked.
