'Kadaisi Vivasayi' Fame Actor Kasiammal Killed By Son In Madurai

Kasiammal, a 74-year-old actor known for her role in the Tamil movie 'Kadaisi Vivasayi', was reportedly murdered by her 54-year-old son at their residence in Anaiyur near Usilampatti, Madurai district. Usilampatti Taluk police have arrested the son, P Namakodi (54).

Kasiammal's portrayal in the 2022 'Kadaisi Vivasayi' film, alongside veteran farmer Nallandi and actor Vijay Sethupathi, earned widespread acclaim. The son Nammakodi has been detained.

Sub-inspector Balasubramani said that Nammakodi, in an intoxicated state, got into a dispute with his mother demanding money for alcohol. When she refused to give money, he allegedly assaulted her with a wooden log, resulting in her death, according to a report on The New Indian Express.

On Sunday morning, family members found Kasiammal to be dead, as per police reports.

During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Kasiammal and Namakodi had been involved in disputes recently with the former refusing to provide money for him to buy alcohol.

The Usilampatti Taluk police have transferred her body to the government hospital for post-mortem examination. The police have filed a case under IPC section 302 (murder) and have seized the murder weapon.

According to the police, Nammakodi was separated from his wife, and he was financially supported by Kasiammal.

The police further stated that the couple, Kasiammal and Paulsamy, have three children, including the suspect Namakodi, the report stated. "Kadaisi Vivasayi" is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by M. Manikandan. The film stars an 85-year-old farmer named Nallandi and includes Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu in supporting roles.

The film received the Best Feature Film In Tamil award and a Special Mention for actor Nallandi at the 69th National Film Awards.

Earlier, Nallandi completed his portions for the film but tragically passed away shortly before its release.
