Actor-comedian Jamie Lever has opened up about troubling experiences during her childhood that left a deep emotional impact. In an interview with Hauterrfly, she shared that these incidents began when she was just 10 years old and caused her to become guarded around men for many years. Jamie recalled moments that left her feeling unsafe and anxious, both at school and in public spaces.

Jamie Lever recalls being sexually harassed

Jamie recalled an incident when her driver picked her up from school while they waited outside for her brother Jessey. “He asked me to wait in the car. My friend and I were chatting in the back seat. One creepy guy came, stood at the window behind her, flashed me and started masturbating. It was the first time I’d seen a male part and I was so shocked. I didn’t understand what was happening. I was so young, maybe 10-12. I started trembling because I thought he’d open the door and do something,” she said.

Jamie recalled locking the car door and pretending not to notice the man, which eventually led him to leave. She also shared that her school bus conductor behaved in a troubling and inappropriate manner towards students.

“Our school bus conductor was so inappropriate with us, he would touch us. Some days, I feel like it’s all a bad dream…I have suppressed these memories. He’s supposed to protect children, but he had a sick mind. I became so closed off, I didn’t let men into my life. I only dated once I moved abroad in my 20s,” she said.

Jamie also mentioned that she never told her father, Johnny Lever, or her mother, Sujatha, about these experiences, as she couldn’t make sense of them at the time.
