Humaira Asghar’s Family Refuses Body, Brother-in-Law Step In For Last Rites

Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar's decomposed body was discovered months after her death. As her family refuses to claim her remains, actors from the industry step up to lay her to rest with dignity

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar was found dead in her Karachi apartment nearly six months after her death. The 32-year-old's body was discovered on July 7, 2025, in an advanced stage of decomposition, suggesting she passed away in October 2024, undetected, alone, and abandoned.

Authorities became aware of her death only after her landlord filed a legal complaint over unpaid rent. When police arrived to deliver a court-ordered eviction notice and found no response, they forced the door open, only to find her lifeless body.

Cold Response from Family Draws Outrage

Adding to the tragedy, reports indicate that Humaira’s family refused to claim her remains. Officials who contacted her brother were redirected to her father, Dr. Asghar Ali, a retired army doctor. His response, as relayed by police, was chilling: “We have cut off ties with her long ago. Do whatever you want with her body. We will not receive it.”

This refusal has drawn criticism and sorrow from both the public and members of Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

Actors Collective of Pakistan and Celebs Step Up for Final Rites

In light of the family’s refusal, several actors and public figures have rallied to ensure Humaira is given a respectful burial. The Actors Collective of Pakistan (ACT) released a heartfelt statement: “As the Actors Collective of Pakistan, we have taken it upon ourselves to ensure she is laid to rest with the dignity and respect every human being deserves... We are more than colleagues — we are a family.”

Yashma Gill also voiced her support and asked any willing relatives to come forward, adding that authorities had agreed to allow industry members to take on burial responsibilities if necessary.

A Death That Raises Difficult Questions

Humaira, known for her roles in shows like 'Tamasha Ghar', 'Ehsaan Faramosh', and 'Guru', had reportedly been living in isolation for several years. Police revealed that her phone had not been used since October 2024, and expired food in her apartment dated back six months—corroborating the timeline of her passing.

This tragic case has become a point of introspection in the entertainment industry, raising difficult questions about support systems, mental health, and the isolation that often shadows fame.

As Humaira’s colleagues prepare to give her the dignity in death that she was denied in life, the story serves as a sobering reminder of the need for compassion and community in an increasingly disconnected world.
