BookMyShow Files FIR Amid Coldplay Ticket Scam, Concerts To Go On As Planned

BookMyShow stated it is reviewing unethical ticket sales and is considering canceling those tickets found to be involved in black market transactions.

BookMyShow has lodged an FIR against the illegal resale of tickets for Coldplay’s upcoming concerts in Mumbai. In a statement, the company stated it is reviewing unethical ticket sales and is considering canceling those tickets found to be involved in black market transactions.

BookMyShow lodges FIR against unauthorised sale of tickets

“In its ongoing fight against ticket scalping and black marketing of tickets for Coldplay's Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India, BookMyShow has lodged a formal FIR (First Information Report) on October 2, 2024," the statement read.

"This action follows our initial complaint filed proactively with the Mumbai Police on September 23, 2024, addressing these concerns much before any formal complaint was raised against us. BookMyShow’s FIR filed with the Mumbai police also urges authorities to investigate the unauthorised resale of tickets by individuals and platforms," the statement added.

Coldplay concert tickets row

The excitement surrounding Coldplay's much-awaited concert in Mumbai in January 2025 has been overshadowed by growing concerns over ticketing scams. With millions of fans vying for a limited number of tickets, many have taken to social media to express their frustration about the chaotic ticketing process and the fear of being scammed.

Some tickets for the Coldplay concerts have reportedly surfaced on the black market at higher prices, prompting an investigation by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police. Tickets originally priced between Rs 2,500 and Rs 35,000 are now reportedly being sold for over Rs 3 lakh on resale platforms like Viagogo, showing major price inflation and raising concerns over ticket scalping practices.

The band is set to perform three shows at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, as part of its Music of the Spheres World Tour 2025. After the first two concerts sold out, Coldplay has decided to add a third event (Jan 21) in the city due to the incredible demand.
