Rajkummar Rao On Removing 'Yadav' From His Surname: ‘Aisa Koi Rule Nahin Hai’

'Stree 2' fame Rajkummar Rao has recently disclosed the reasons for his decision to remove 'Yadav' from his surname.

New Delhi: Renowned Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao is currently enjoying great success with his film 'Stree 2'. His comedic portrayal in the film directed by Amar Kaushik has once again established him as one of the most proficient performers in Bollywood. Nevertheless, amidst the considerable attention surrounding his most recent film, the actor has disclosed reasons for his decision to remove 'Yadav' from his surname.

During a recent chat with Shubhankar Mishra on YouTube, Rajkummar Rao revealed that his choice to remove his surname was not primarily motivated by industry conventions. Instead, it was a subjective decision intended to streamline his name. He clarified, "Aisa koi rule nahin hai (to change name after entering the industry). Maine kabhi surname use kiya nahi tha. Mere passport mein bhi sirf Rajkummar hee tha (There is no such rule. I had never used a surname before. Even in my passport, it is just Rajkummar)."

Rajkummar Rao went on to say that the main reason he only used the first name "Rajkummar" was so no one would mistake him for another famous actor or actress with the same first name. He said, "This is for people to not get confused as to which Rajkummar you are talking about. Rajkummar Hirani, Santoshi, Gupta or this one. And Rao is a title which is given to Yadavs, so I started using it.”
