Siddharth Nigam Didn’t Know What YRF Was During Dhoom 3 Audition: ‘I Thought They’d Sell Me In Mumbai’
Actor Siddharth Nigam recalls his surprising reaction to being cast in Dhoom 3, revealing he didn’t know what Yash Raj Films (YRF) was at the time and feared it could be a scam.

Actor Siddharth Nigam, who stars in JioHotstar’s musical series Hai Junoon and was last seen alongside Salman Khan in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, is steadily carving a niche for himself in the entertainment industry. In a recent interaction with Hindustan Times, Siddharth opened up about his role in the series and how closely it resonates with his own life.
On Relating to His Character
Speaking about his role in Hai Junoon, Siddharth said, “I relate a lot with Vikram’s character. I feel the young audience will see themselves in him because, at the end of the day, we are all chasing dreams. People like us—outsiders coming from small towns to this big world—we first need to find ourselves and our own voice. That takes a long time.”
The actor reflected on his early life in Prayagraj, before his acting career began, and how distant the world of cinema once felt.
From Gymnast to Actor
“When I was in Prayagraj, I had no idea about this industry. My mother ran a small parlour, and I was a gymnast. I never say I struggled a lot because God gifted me these opportunities very early,” he shared.
Siddharth Nigam's Film Debut
Siddharth made his film debut in 2013, playing the younger version of Aamir Khan’s character in Dhoom 3. However, the journey to that role was filled with uncertainty and surprise.
“When Yash Raj Films called me, Shanoo ma’am (casting director Shanoo Sharma) called me—I was scared. We had no one in Mumbai where they were asking us to come. I literally wondered if it was a fake call. I’m someone who used to watch Crime Patrol and Savdhaan India. I thought, ‘What if they call us to Mumbai and sell me off?’ I genuinely had no idea what Yash Raj Films was or who Shanoo ma’am was,” Siddharth recalled with a laugh.
It was only after his brother googled YRF and Shanoo Sharma that they realized the magnitude of the opportunity.
“They embraced me with open arms,” Siddharth added, expressing gratitude to both Yash Raj Films and the wider film fraternity.
Hai Junoon is currently streaming on JioHotstar.
