Priya Sachdev Says She Treats Karisma Kapoor & Sunjay Kapur’s Kids As Her Own: 'We Have 4 Children'

Just days before the untimely death of entrepreneur Sunjay Kapur, his wife Priya Sachdev offered a rare glimpse into their blended family, her parenting philosophy, and how emotional maturity helped foster a healthy relationship with Sunjay’s former wife, actor Karisma Kapoor.

In a candid conversation with Siddhant Digvijay Jaitha, Priya discussed how raising children today involves a much more nuanced understanding of emotional intelligence and technology. Her reflections come at a time of personal loss, following Sunjay Kapur’s passing on June 12, 2025, at the age of 53.

Speaking about the challenges and joys of raising Gen Z children, Priya noted a stark contrast between her own upbringing and the current parenting landscape.

“Kids today are different. Unlike us, they use logic. They ask questions and you need to give them a logical explanation,” she shared, highlighting how digital access has made younger generations more evolved and self-aware.

She emphasized the need for parents to keep pace with technology: “To keep up with them, we need to keep a check on what is happening with the AI and tech. When we know their language, it gets much more easier to speak with them. Friendship is very important.”

Priya, who is a mother to two children of her own, has also embraced Sunjay's children from his previous marriage. Together, they parented four children—Samaira (20), Safira (18), Kiaan (15), and Azarius (6).

 “These kids are very healthy. They workout, they eat right, and they work very hard,” she said, adding that a supportive home is key to fostering such habits. “They should never feel scared of their parents. I trust and respect our children.”
She also praised Gen Z’s temperament, noting, “They are not rebellious. They don’t argue back.”

Mutual Respect With Karisma Kapoor

One of the more remarkable aspects of Priya’s journey has been her evolving relationship with Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay’s ex-wife. In an earlier interview, Priya recalled moments of mutual understanding and shared love for the children.

 “The children have also requested me, saying, ‘Mama doesn’t have a plan… can we invite her?’... of course she’s more than welcome because I’m confident about my relationship with my husband.”

Priya noted that both women moved beyond personal insecurities for the well-being of their children. “We’ve had conversations, like it’s not about us anymore, or our insecurities or our issues.” She added that their daughters’ close bond played a crucial role in uniting the family.
