Diljit Dosanjh Not Dropped From Border 2 Amid Sardaar Ji 3 Row
Despite ongoing controversy around Sardaar Ji 3 and backlash from FWICE, Diljit Dosanjh remains part of Border 2. A source confirmed that the actor has not been dropped from the war film.

Amid rising tensions surrounding the release of 'Sardaar Ji 3', actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh’s role in the much-anticipated war drama Border 2 has come under intense scrutiny. However, contrary to multiple reports claiming he has been dropped from the film, a source closely associated with the production has confirmed to NDTV that Diljit remains part of the cast.
Sardaar Ji 3 Sparks Outrage
The controversy ignited after the trailer of 'Sardaar Ji 3' was released on June 22, featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The casting choice drew strong backlash, especially in light of the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) condemned the film’s overseas release, which went ahead despite public outcry and threats. The organization has since called for an industry-wide boycott of Dosanjh.
FWICE Urges Bollywood to Distance Itself
The film body’s criticism has not stopped with Dosanjh alone. In a formal appeal to actor Sunny Deol, who stars in 'Border 2', FWICE wrote, "Your decision to disassociate from this collaboration will reaffirm your enduring image as a true patriot and will send a strong message that national interest will always come before individual pursuits."
Similarly, the organization addressed director Imtiaz Ali, who is reuniting with Dosanjh for a new project following 'Amar Singh Chamkila', urging him to reconsider the collaboration. "Your involvement risks sending a deeply conflicting message, especially given your influence as a director known for socially resonant themes... We, therefore, strongly appeal to you to reconsider your collaboration with Diljit Dosanjh and withdraw from associating with any artist who has been officially boycotted by FWICE."
Production Confirms Diljit Remains in Cast
Despite the mounting pressure, a source close to Border 2 production told NDTV that Dosanjh is still very much part of the film. “The news about his replacement is not true. His casting was done 9 months back, and we have already finished 50% shoot,” the source clarified.
'Border 2', directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Nidhi Dutta, daughter of JP Dutta, who helmed the original 1997 war epic, has recently entered its third schedule in Pune.
Meanwhile, FWICE has escalated the matter to the national level, urging the Indian government to revoke Dosanjh’s passport and citizenship, and blacklist the team behind Sardaar Ji 3 from the industry.
While tensions continue to brew, the official stance from the production house indicates no changes, yet, to the film’s star lineup.
