Actor Arjun Rampal talked about his relationship with ex-wife Mehr Jesia and his current girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades.

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia ended their 21-year marriage in 2019. They have two daughters, Mahikaa and Myra. In a recent interview, Arjun candidly described his divorce and how coming from a broken household affected him.

Arjun Rampal’s Thoughts On Divorce

In a podcast with BeerBiceps, Arjun Rampal said that divorce was ‘very difficult’ for him. The actor said, “It's not easy. It's not easy on anybody and for children it's not easy. I think it's the most difficult for them and you don't want that.”

Arjun admitted to his mistakes and accepted responsibility for his marriage's failure. “I came from a broken home when I was young, and for me to not have succeeded in marriage was something which I really had to look back upon and see how did this go wrong and how did I not see... then I realised why it went wrong and what the things were, and I take responsibility for it,” Arjun said.

Talking about his current relationship with his ex-wife, Arjun said, “Today touchwood, we are all very close. We are very loving towards each other and we will always have each other's backs. So, the thing is you don't have to be living under the same roof. You don't have to be bound down by a piece of paper or separated by a piece of paper.”

The 51-year-old actor explained why he is unwilling to marry Gabriella. He said, “It’s not me, it’s not her, but marriage is just a piece of paper. We are already married, and there is no doubt about that in my mind. But sometimes what that piece of paper can do is change you. You’re just legally bound in a way, but it could change your attitude towards each other. In both our minds, we are married to each other."
