Is Aishwarya Rai’s Cannes Look A Tribute To ‘Operation Sindoor’? Netizens Say ‘Mother Never Disappoints’

Fans are linking Aishwarya Rai Bachchan sindoor style to Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army’s response to a recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turned heads at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in a white saree and a bold streak of sindoor. While fans loved her traditional look, some believe it may carry a deeper message.

Aishwarya Rai's Cannes look has a connection to Operation Sindoor?

On social media, people are linking her sindoor style to Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army’s response to a recent terror attack in Pahalgam. Though Aishwarya hasn’t said anything about it, many online are calling it a powerful and silent show of support.

The military carried out Operation Sindoor overnight on May 7-8, striking terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The mission was a response to the killing of 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen.

Now, with Aishwarya Rai walking the Cannes red carpet just days later in a traditional look featuring sindoor, many online feel it could be her quiet way of paying tribute to the operation. Here's what fans said on X (formerly Twitter).

A fan wrote on X, “ That sindoor touch is so refreshing! Thank you Aishwarya Rai for this. Shame on the silence of the Khans—not a word on #OperationSindoor. While Bollywood’s biggest names stay quiet, Aishwarya stands tall—fearless, dignified, bold. True courage. That’s what India deserves.”

Another wrote, “I’m so proud of Aishwarya Rai. Regardless of all the hate, she showed up as strong and as beautiful as ever. That too wearing sindoor in the midst of Operation Sindoor.” A comment read, “Aishwarya in a sari, sindoor shining under the Cannes lights—felt less like fashion, more like quiet power. In the week of Operation Sindoor, that image did more than words ever could.” Another fan said, “wait aishwarya put on that sindoor in respect to OPERATION SINDOOR, MOTHER NEVER DISAPPOINTS.”

Some people also believe Aishwarya’s sindoor was also a subtle way of shutting down ongoing divorce rumours with Abhishek Bachchan. In 2024, the couple drew attention for staying away from social media and making fewer public appearances together. However, their recent outings have reassured fans, suggesting all is well between them.

On the professional front, Aishwarya was last seen playing Nandini in 'Ponniyin Selvan: II', directed by Mani Ratnam.
