New Delhi: BTS member Suga, who is currently on his Agust D World Tour, took a dig at the Grammy Awards. Known for his frank nature, Suga made the said remark when he was asked about the Grammy Awards during the tour.
For those unaware, Bong Joon Ho's 'Parasite' won an Oscar in 2020. Once, during a media interaction, the filmmaker had called the awards 'very local'. The filmmaker was then asked if he thought it odd that no South Korean film had ever been nomintaed for an Oscar before.
Like Bong Joon Ho's reaction, Suga, when asked about the Grammys, jokingly told LA Times, "Isn’t that a local thing?” The LA Times report also mentioned Bong Joon Ho's words.
Soon after Suga's reply went viral on social media, BTS fans aka army shared their reactions on social media. A user wrote, "Savage from day 1! Gotta love it!” “Yes, my baby!” added another one. “Someone is not being honest,” added another.
BTS is a popular South Korean band with a following of millions across the world. The band comprises of RM, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. They have also been nominated for Grammy Awards five times. Last year, BTS performed on their song 'Butter' at the Grammy Awards in April.
Talking about their performance, Suga had previously told Weverse magazine, “We actually practiced really hard. (laughs) We’re not going to do that kind of performance again for quite a while. We had a part that involved clothes and there was a dance break in the middle, too. The process of getting ready was extremely hectic, too: Seokjin got hurt, and Hobi and Jung Kook were in quarantine, so there were times when it was just four of us. It was an experience I won’t soon forget. And the directors were really enthusiastic about the performance. So it was a bit stressful getting ready … but I guess it was also sort of fun, looking back now.”
