Aamir Khan Debunks Affair Rumour And Reveals His Relationship With Ex-Wife Kiran Rao

Aamir Khan said that he did not divorce his first wife, Reena, due to his relationship with Kiran Rao.

New Delhi: Aamir Khan's announcement that he and his wife, Kiran Rao, were ending their marriage was a great surprise last year.

After the actor's divorce announcement, social media was abuzz with speculation that the split was the result of his extra marital affair. Aamir recently admitted that the divorce was not brought about by another lady, but rather by mutual consent. He said, "No. There was no one back then, there is no one now."

Talking to News18, Aamir said, “Kiran and I are actually family. But our relationship of husband and wife experienced a certain change and we wanted to respect the institution of marriage. However, we are always going to be by each other’s side. We are working together. We live close by. But we are no longer husband and wife and that’s why we decided to call it quits.” 

As part of his explanation, Aamir also said that he did not divorce his first wife, Reena, due to his relationship with Kiran. He confessed, “when Reena and I got separated, there was no one in my life. A lot of people think that Kiran and I met before my divorce from Reena but it’s not true. Kiran and I had met but we didn’t really know each other and we became friends much later.”

Aamir is celebrating his 57th birthday today and he shared his thoughts on the nicest present he got from ex-wife Kiran.

According to the report by News18, Amir said,  "I generally asked her, "Kiran, you know me the best, can you tell me such things - given that I am going through a phase where I'm trying to improve as a person, trying to focus on my weakness- can you tell me a few things that you feel are my weaknesses and drawbacks on which I should focus on? She gave me a list of 10-12 points that I sat and wrote as well. So, that's my life's best birthday gift."

They have a son named Azad Rao Khan. Aamir said that both he and Kiran Rao are committed towards their child.
