The Supreme Court yesterday ordered a floor test in the Karnataka Assembly at 4 PM tomorrow, drastically slashing the 15-day window given by the Governor to BJP's B S Yeddyurappa to prove majority.
NEW DELHI: Newly-elected JD(S) and Congress MLAs from Karnataka, who had been camping in Hyderabad’s two hotels to avoid any poaching bids, yesterday left for Bengaluru for the crucial floor test in the state assembly.
The Yeddyurappa government will have to prove his majority in the state assembly at 4 pm today. Governor Vala had earlier given 15 days to the Yeddyurappa government to prove the majority in the house.
Both the BJP and Congress claim that they will be able to prove majority. BJP’s Yeddyurappa said that he is 100 percent confident of retaining in power while Congress' Karnataka unit chief K Parameshwara said his party was confident of keeping their MLAs together and alleged that the BJP was trying to woo their lawmakers with incentives.

The BJP has emerged as the single largest party with 104 seats, followed by the Congress with 78, the JD(S) with 37 and three seats have gone to others in the 224-member assembly where elections were held for 222 seats.
The majority mark is 112 seats and the post-poll alliance strength of the Congress-JD(S) combine, which claims to have 117 MLAs, has alleged foul play in the Governor inviting BJP to form the government.
