RJD Leader's 'Offer' To Nitish Kumar Sparks Speculations In Bihar Ahead Of Assembly Polls

The remark, made during an interaction with reporters in Khagaria district on Thursday, has spurred speculation in Bihar almost a year after Nitish switched from the RJD camp to the NDA alliance.

A recent remark by a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA has raised the political temperature in Bihar, months ahead of the assembly elections in the state.

RJD MLA Bhai Virendra, who is considered to be close to party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, has said that the opposition alliance is ready to accept Nitish Kumar if the JD(U) chief decides to come back to the Mahagathbandhan fold.

Virendra's remark, made during an interaction with reporters in Khagaria district on Thursday, has spurred speculation in Bihar almost a year after Nitish switched from the RJD camp to the NDA alliance.

"There are no permanent friends or foes in politics. This has been going on for long and may happen again. There has been 'khela' happening in Bihar and it will continue to happen in Bihar. Politics is the game of circumstances. Things are done in politics as per circumstances," Virendra said on the question of the possibility of Nitish joining the opposition alliance.

The RJD MLA went ahead to offer Nitish Kumar to join the Mahagathbandhan alliance.

"He (Nitish Kumar) moves away from communal forces, and if he, too, has grown weary of staying with communal powers and no longer wishes to associate with traitors (deshdrohiyon), we will certainly welcome him," the RJD MLA added.

The remark by the RJD MLA comes even as the elections to the 243-member Bihar Assembly are due in late 2025.

Responding to the RJD MLA's remark, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said that there is a government of good governance in Bihar, under Nitish Kumar's leadership and carrying out the development in the state.

He further said that the people of Bihar don't want the 'Jungalraj' back in the state and the state now has schools, employment, and businesses.

BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal, meanwhile, said that RJD leaders have started daydreaming. "In their desperation for power, they have gone mad and are giving absurd statements," he said.

Recently, the BJP-led NDA has reiterated that Nitish Kumar will continue to lead the alliance and will remain the Chief Minister's face in the 2025 polls.

Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary and State Minister Dilip Jaiswal have maintained that Nitish Kumar will be the leader of the NDA in the assembly polls due next year.
