PM Modi In Rajasthan Says Congress Responsible For India's Poverty After Independence
PM Modi In Rajasthan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a jibe at the Opposition saying that for the first time, the corrupt had joined hands to prevent action on corruption.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held the Congress directly responsible for the poverty in India after Independence. Launching a sharp attack on the Congress, PM Modi said the Congress had made the country dependent on other nations and did not allow India to become self-reliant.
"Congress is responsible for the poverty that prevailed in the country for 60 years after Independence. It was only because of the Congress that India was dependent on other countries for technologies and defence equipment. Congress never allowed our armed forces to become atmanirbhar [self-reliant]. Under Congress's rule, India was known as the biggest importer of weapons. However, under the BJP's rule, India is now becoming a net exporter of weapons," PM Modi said at an election rally in Rajasthan's Kotputli.
He took a dig at the Opposition saying that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are the first in the history of the nation, in which the corrupt had banded together to prevent action on corruption. "This is a very important election to save the country's future," he said. "This election is to uproot corruption, to fulfil the dream of self-reliant India, to resolve for the prosperity of the farmers and to provide tap water to every household...but the Congress and its INDI Alliance are fighting the elections not for the country but for their own selfish motives," PM Modi was quoted as saying.
Responding to the Congress's claim that the nation would be on fire if BJP won, PM Modi said: "Modi has been dousing such fires for the last 10 years." He said the next term of the BJP would propel the nation to greater heights of development with "historic decisions", reported news agency PTI. He said that over his two terms as Prime Minister, he had taken several decisions that had been stalled for decades. "That is why some people have started saying that so much has happened, Modi ji, what is left now, now take rest. But such people forget that Modi was not born to have fun...Modi is born to work hard," he was quoted as saying by PTI.
The Prime Minister urged the people to vote for the BJP candidate from Jaipur Rural seat, Rao Rajendra Singh.
