Odisha Exit Poll Results 2024: Can 5-Time CM Naveen Patnaik Retain BJD's Momentum Lok Sabha, Assembly Elections?

Odisha Assembly Election 2024 Exit Polls predict a tight race between BJP and BJD, with BJP projected to have an edge. Even in the Lok Sabha elections the BJD is projected to lose significant ground.

Odisha Assembly Election 2024 Exit Poll: This year, assembly elections were held in Odisha along with the Lok Sabha polls. After the elections, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and CM Naveen Patnaik's party Biju Janata Dal (BJD) are claiming to have crossed the majority mark in the state. The India Today-Axis My India released exit poll on the Odisha assembly elections, however, gave BJP the edge.

BJD Staring At Massive Loss: Exit Poll

According to the exit poll of India Today-Axis My India, out of the 147 assembly seats in Odisha, both BJP and BJD can get 62-80 seats. If the exit poll figures prove to be correct, this will be the first time since 2004 that BJD would lack absolute majority in the Odisha assembly, leading to serious problems for five-time Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

How Many Seats Will Congress Get In Odisha?

In the exit poll of Axis My India, Congress is projected to get 5-8 seats. If the exit poll is to be believed, both BJP and BJD can get 42% vote share in Odisha. According to the exit poll, Congress has got 12% of the votes and others have secured 4% of the votes. Elections for the 147-seat assembly of Odisha were held in four phases on May 13, May 20, May 25, and June1.

BJD In 2019

In the 2019 assembly elections, BJD emerged as the largest party in Odisha by winning 112 seats. In the last assembly elections, BJP got 23 seats and Congress got 9. VK Pandian, a close aide of CM Patnaik, had claimed on Saturday (June 1) during the last phase of elections that the ruling party (BJD) in Odisha will win more than 115 out of 147 assembly seats and 15 out of 21 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

BJD In Lok Sabha Exit Polls

The BJD is predicted to suffer a massive loss in the Lok Sabha as well. The ABP-CVoter exit polls projected a seat range of 0-2 for the INDIA bloc, 17-19 for the BJP, and just 1-3 for the BJD.

India TV-CNX projected the BJP to win 15-17 seats, 4-6 for the BJD, and up to 1 seat for the INDIA bloc in the state.

The News18 Mega exit poll number, too, were in favour of the BJP, giving the party 13-15 seats in 2024. The BJD is likely to scrape 6-8 seats, the survey projected.
