Army Jawan Held In Maharashtra For Extorting Uddhav Sena Leader, Offering To 'Manipulate' EVM

Police Commissioner Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Manoj Lohia, said that the Jawan, posted in Jammu had a loan on his head.

Maharashtra News: An Army jawan was arrested by Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar police in Maharashtra for demanding Rs 2.5 crore from Shiv Sena (UBT) politician Ambadas Danve for manipulating the EVMs, news agency ANI reported on Wednesday. Police Commissioner Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Manoj Lohia, said that the Jawan, posted in Jammu, had a loan on his head, had no knowledge about the EVMs, and was just trying to cheat the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader.

Giving further details on the matter, Lohia said that the Jawan met Ambadas Danve in Pune once, and he came to meet him and take money from him. The police official further stated that Danve promised him to pay Rs 1 lakh to set the trap. 

"An Army jawan posted in Jammu was arrested in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city for demanding Rs 2.5 crore from Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve for manipulating the EVMs. The jawan had a loan on his head. He had no knowledge of EVMs, he was just trying to cheat him. He met Ambadas Danve in Pune once and today he came to meet him and take money from the party leader. To set the trap, Ambadas Danve promised him to pay Rs 1 lakh and the leader's brother registered a complaint after which the jawan was arrested," Ambadas Danve said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
