Karnataka Polls: BJP fields Mahesh Tenginakai from Hubli-Dharwad Central which was previously held by Jagadish Shettar
BJP on Monday released third list of 10 candidates for the upcoming Karnataka polls, fields Mahesh Tenginakai from Hubli-Dharwad Central which was previously held by Jagadish Shettar, news agency PTI reported.
As per the third list, BJP MLA Aravind Limbavali's wife Manjula Aravind Limbavali will be contesting upcoming polls from Mahadevapura, Sanjeev Aihole from Nagthan, Rajkumar Patil from Sedam, Manjula Amaresh from Koppal, Kalakappa Bandi from Ron, B. Ramanna from Hagaribommanahalli, Katta Jagadish from Hebbal, Umesh Shetty from Govindraj Nagar, and Srivatsa from Krishnaraja, ANI reported.

Jagadish Shettar Joined Congress Today
Jagadish Shettar, the former chief minister of Karnataka, joined the Congress on Monday morning in Bengaluru. Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC in-charge of the party's Karnataka unit Randeep S Surejewala, CLP leader Siddaramaiah, and KPCC president DK Shivakumar greeted him.
Shettar, who had remained the BJP's state president, was refused a ticket for the assembly elections this time. An enraged Shettar attacked the BJP, alleging that it had humiliated and mistreated him. “I was humiliated and badly treated by BJP leaders. Some of the leaders in the state are misusing the BJP and it hurts,” he said.
Shettar is expected to get the Congress ticket from Hubballi-Dharwad central constituency.
BJP's First And Second Candidate List
The BJP has so far announced 222 candidates for the 224-member assembly elections on May 10. Nominations must be submitted by April 20.
Earlier, the BJP had released its first list of 189 candidates. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will contest the Shiggaon Assembly seat and national general secretary of BJP CT Ravi will fight for the Chikmagluru seat.
There were 52 fresh candidates in BJP's first list for the Karnataka election. As many as 32 OBC candidates, 30 SC candidates, and 16 ST candidates, were given tickets. "There are doctors, IPS and IAS officers, 31 PG candidates, and eight women. There are five advocates, nine doctors, three academicians, two retired IAS and IPS officers, three retired government employees, and eight social workers in this list," said BJP's national general secretary Arun Singh.
Last week, the BJP had released its second list of 23 candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly election.
There were four Scheduled Caste candidates, one Scheduled Tribe candidate, and two women candidates on the list.Virupakshappa, a Channagiri MLA who was recently detained by Lokayukta police on corruption accusations, was one of the sitting MLAs who did not make the list. Shiv Kumar has been elected from the Channagiri constituency. Incumbent MLA Nehru Olekar was replaced in Haveri by Gavisiddappa Dyamannavar, while incumbent MLA B Sukumar Shetty was replaced in Byndoor by Gururaj Gantihole.
