Was Savitri Jindal Ousted From BJP For Contesting Haryana Polls As Independent? Party Clarifies

The BJP has clarified that it has not issued any order for the ouster of Savitri Jindal.

The Haryana unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday dismissed reports of it expelling four leaders, including India's 'richest woman' Savitri Jindal, from the party for contesting the Haryana assembly elections as independent candidates against the party's candidates. Jindal is contesting the Haryana Assembly polls 2024 as an independent candidate from the Hisar constituency.

The clarification during the polling for the single-phase legislative assembly polls came in response to a viral post on the matter.

What was written in the viral post?

The viral post claimed to be a press note issued by BJP state president Mohan Lal Baroli, in which it was written that the party workers contesting the assembly elections as independent candidates had been expelled from the party for six years with immediate effect. In this post, the names of Savitri Jindal, Gautam Sardana, Tarun Jain and Amit Grover were included among those expelled from the party.

Savitri Jindal is the mother of BJP's Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal and the wife of the late industrialist OP Jindal. She is contesting the election against Haryana Minister and sitting MLA from Hisar, Kamal Gupta. Jindal is contesting independently from the Hisar constituency after being denied tickets by the BJP.

When Savitri Jindal was questioned about the viral post on expulsion from the BJP, she said, "I do not know anything about it. If I get to know, I will tell you. I am contesting the election as an independent. I will do whatever the Hisar family wants." Let us tell you that Savitri Jindal won the Hisar seat on a Congress ticket in 2009. She had to face defeat in the 2014 elections.

Earlier, on September 29, the Haryana BJP expelled eight leaders, including former minister Ranjit Chautala and former MLA Devendra Kadyan, from the party for 6 years for the same reason. Chautala is contesting the Rania seat as an Independent and is backed by Dushyant Chautala's JJP. Chautala is going up against Shishpal Kamboj. Devender Kadiyan is going up against Devender Kaushik from the BJP in the Ganaur constituency.
