BJP Announces Pradip Varma From Jharkhand As Its Candidate For Rajya Sabha Biennial Elections
The BJP announced Pradip Varma from Jharkhand as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha Biennial elections.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday announced general secretary of party's Jharkhand unit Pradip Varma from Jharkhand as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha Biennial elections, news agency ANI reported.

Varma will file his nomination on March 11. Following his nomination, Pradip Varma expressed gratitude towards the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Rajya Sabha Biennial elections for two seats in Jharkhand are set to be held on March 21, an official said last month. The Election Commission stated that fresh elections were necessitated as the tenure of two Rajya Sabha members from the state, Samir Oraon of the BJP and Dhiraj Prasad Sahu of the Congress, will end on May 3.

The nominations, which started from March 4, will conclude on March 11, an election official said. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is March 14. The polling will be held between 9 am and 4 pm on March 21 on the Jharkhand assembly premises.The counting of votes will be held on the same day at 5 pm, the official said.
In the recent elections, four BJP MPs from Gujarat were elected to the Rajya Sabha. These include party president JP Nadda, Jaswant Singh Parmar, Mayank Nayak, and Govindbhai Dholakia.
The BJP released its first list of 195 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The list included 47 youth candidates, 28 women candidates, 27 Scheduled Caste (SC) faces, 18 Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates, and 57 OBC/Backward Class nominees.
