EXCLUSIVE: 'Don't Have Moral Energy To Resign Even After Getting Arrested': Amit Shah Attacks Kejriwal On Corruption

Hitting out at Arvind Kejriwal, Amit Shah, in an exclusive interview to ABP News, said that it has been the first time in history that a person has not resigned even after getting arrested.

Union Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday attacked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal saying that the AAP chief said he was 'Kattar Imandaar', but didn't have the moral energy to resign even after getting arrested.

Hitting out at Kejriwal, Amit Shah, in an exclusive interview to ABP News, said that it has been the first time in history that a person has not resigned even after getting arrested.

"It has never happened in history that if a person is arrested in any case, he or she has not resigned on moral grounds. There is no provision in the Constitution because the makers of the Constitution couldn't imagine that someone would get arrested and no resign. So there was no such provision. It is a very natural thing," Amit Shah said.

He also said that the AAP leaders claimed their fight is against corruption, but they themselves are held in corruption cases.

"I want to tell you the character of AAP. They said they wouldn't come in politics. We are fighting against corruption and we will not form a political party. Anna remained on the side, while they made a political party," he said.

"They said their fight is against corruption. But they were themselves held in corruption cases. They said they are 'Kattar imandar' (staunch honest), but even after getting arrested they don't have the moral energy to resign," the Union Minister added.

Shah taking a veiled dig at Kejriwal further said that he believes that if he resigns, then his party will disintegrate.

Responding to the question on AAP's allegations that the BJP government wants to destroy the party, Shah said there has been no greater attempt at finishing the opposition in the country than the Emergency.

"Nobody is doing any such thing (finishing opposition). But if you keep on doing corruption and you want nobody to touch you because you would make noise, it will not work."
