Assembly Elections 2022: Model Code Of Conduct To Be Lifted At End Of Electoral Process. Read All About It

Political parties across all the five states will be allowed to hold rallies and roadshows without EC permission.

New Delhi: The seventh and last phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly election comes to an end today. Counting of votes for the 403 member assembly including the states of Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa will be held on March 10. The model code of conduct that was implemented in all the five states by the Election Commission (EC) will also end with it.

Here we take a look at restricts that will be lifted once the electoral process ends.

  • Political parties across all the five states will be allowed to hold rallies and roadshows without EC permission post March 10
  • The new government including other political parties will be free to launch welfare programmes like construction of roads and provision of drinking water facilities
  • Hoardings and posters, that have always been a huge promotional means for political parties can again be put up
  • The ruling party can hold recruitment processes, which were banned during the elections by EC under the model code of conduct 
  • Political parties can now advertise in print, electronic and other media highlighting their achievements
  • Once the government is formed, ministers and other authorities will become free to announce financial grants in any form or promises
  • All private arms and ammunitions seized by the state administration before the election under the model code of conduct can again be taken back
  • Ruling party ministers are now free to make any ad-hoc appointments of officials

Election in Uttar Pradesh was held in seven phases - February 10, February 14, February 20, February 23, February 27, March 3 and March 7. While the people of Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa voted in a single phase poll. Assembly elections in Manipur was held in two phases.
