Delhi Weather: National Capital Hopes For Relief From Intense Heat As IMD Forecasts Rain, Thunderstorm Today

According to IMD, Delhi will very likely receive isolated rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) on April 26 and 27.

The national capital might experience relief from the heatwave as the India Meteorological Department's forecast suggests a partly cloudy sky and surface winds during the day on Friday. In view of a Western Disturbance caused due to a cyclonic circulation over south Iran in middle and upper tropospheric levels, Delhi is predicted to very likely receive isloted rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) on April 26 and 27.

Delhi on Friday morning recorded a minimum temperature of 21.6 degrees Celsius which was two notches below the season's average, according to IMD.

The weather department also said that the city's maximum temperature is likely to settle around 40 degrees Celsius. At 8:30 am, Delhi noted a humidity reading of 39 per cent.

Besides Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh might also very likely receive isolated rainfall on Friday and Saturday. Punjab is also very likely to receive isolated rainfall during April 26-28, as predicted by IMD.

The weather department has also predicted that Haryana and Punjab might very likely witness an isolated hailstorm on April 26 and 27.

Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad will likely receive isolated heavy rainfall on April 27 and 28, while Himachal Pradesh might witness a similar weather on April 27.

Strong surface winds of approximately 25-35 kmph are very likely to prevail over south Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during April 26-28.

According to IMD, a cylclonic circulation over northeast Assam will very likely cause isolated heavy rainfall  over Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh on April 28. Sikkim will also likely receive moderate rainfall accompanied with lightning and thunderstrom on the same day.

Meanwhile, several states are suffering from the heat wave's impact. IMD has predicted heat wave to severe heat wave conditions over Odisha and isolated pockets over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim in the next five days.

Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, East Uttar Pradesh, during the next five days, Western Uttar Pradesh during April 26-30, and Konkan during April 27-30, are predicted to witness heat wave conditions, IMD said.
