Delhi Man Brutally Attacked, Bitten By Dog After Requesting Owner To Leash Pet

Auto-rickshaw driver's neighbour, Jyoti allegedly launched a violent assault on the auto-rickshaw driver, while his dog viciously attacked Singh, inflicting further injuries.

New Delhi: A 30-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was brutally attacked by a man and bitten multiple times by his dog in south Delhi's Aya Nagar on February 15. Bhrim Singh, the auto-rickshaw driver, encountered his neighbour, Jiwan Jyoti, on the street with his unleashed dog. When the canine began barking aggressively at Singh, he requested Jyoti to restrain the dog with a leash. However, instead of complying with Singh's request, Jyoti allegedly launched a violent assault on the auto-rickshaw driver, while his dog viciously attacked Singh, inflicting further injuries, read the FIR, registered at Fatehpur Beri police station.

According to PTI, Singh informed the police about the matter on February 16. "We have registered an FIR under sections 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animal), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 341 ( wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code. We will question the dog owner", a senior police officer said.

Delhi has witnessed a concerning series of dog attacks since the beginning of the year. One particularly tragic incident occurred on Saturday, where a two-year-old girl was reportedly mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in the Dhobhi Ghat area of New Delhi's Tughlaq Lane. This heart-wrenching event follows another distressing incident on January 22, when a two-year-old girl was allegedly attacked by a pet dog in northeast Delhi's Vishwas Nagar, reported PTI.

In another unsettling occurrence, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly attacked by an American Bully while playing near her home in the Shahbad Dairy area. Additionally, there was a horrifying incident in Burari's Uttarakhand Colony, where a Pitbull allegedly snatched an 18-month-old child from her grandfather's lap and mauled her, as per PTI.
