AIIMS-Delhi Issues Advisory After Staffers Tested Positive For COVID-19

According to the advisory, the hospital staff has been directed to wear masks at all times and avoid gatherings of more than three to four people.

In view of the recent increase in global cases of COVID-19 and to prevent a fresh outbreak of the disease, AIIMS-Delhi issued an advisory, on Wednesday, making it compulsory for all hospital staff to wear face masks inside the hospital premises.

According to ANI, the fresh advisory comes after a few of its staff members tested positive for the infection.

According to the advisory, the hospital staff has been directed to wear masks at all times and avoid gatherings of more than three to four people. The AIIMS management has also instructed the staff to isolate patients at home with a doctor's advice if they have a fever, cough, or cold.

"Must use reusable cloth face cover/surgical mask in the workplace. Ensure proper cleaning and frequent sanitation of the workplace, particularly of the frequently touched surfaces," the AIIMS management said in an advisory.

"Cover your nose and mouth with elbow/handkerchief/tissue while sneezing and coughing. Maintain personal hygiene and physical distancing," read the advisory.

The advisory says that if an employee feels unwell, the person should leave the workplace immediately after informing the reporting officer. Such employees should observe home quarantine and get tested for COVID, it added.

It advised all employees who are at higher risk like pregnant employees, older employees or with underlying medical conditions to take extra precautions.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Delhi's single-day COVID-19 cases count breached the 1,000 mark for the first time in over seven months, while the positivity rate stood at 23.8 per cent, according to data shared by the health department. The national capital logged 1,149 fresh cases along with one fatality. Wednesday's cases were the highest since August 19 last year.

The city had on August 19 last year recorded 1,417 cases, with a reduced positivity rate of 7.53 per cent and three fatalities due to the viral disease.

The health department on Wednesday said 221 of 7,944 beds in the city's dedicated COVID hospitals are occupied, while 1,995 patients are in home isolation. The number of active cases currently stands at 3,347.
