Who Is Kinjal Nanda? Actor And Doctor Spearheading RG Kar Protests

Kinjal Nanda has emerged as a prominent voice in the protests demanding justice for a doctor's rape and murder at RG Kar Medical College. An alumni of RG Kar MCH, Kinjal is also an actor.

As the protests around the RG Kar Medical College doctor's rape and murder rage on, Kinjal Nanda has emerged as one of the faces spearheading the demand for justice. So far, the world has known Kinjal Nanda the actor. However, he has another identity, that of a doctor.

He is known for films like Byomkesh Hatyamancha, Karnasubarner Guptodhon, The Bengal Scam, and Hiralal among others. Kinjal Nanda Nanda, who is among the prime faces of the RG Kar doctor death protests, has been demanding "justice" for the victim. Earlier he said: "None of us are not used to this kind of movement and abstaining from work. All of us [protesters] have just one demand: We Want Justice."

He has been delivering fiery speeches at various protest gatherings in Kolkata. On Monday night, Kinjal Nanda addressed a protest event organised by the West Bengal Junior Doctors' Front. Kinjal, an RG Kar Medical College alumnus, said: "We did not let any political flag enter our college. We don't want to know about your benefits. If you want to protest, you can do so outside the college."

Targetting the Mamata Banerjee government he said: "Nabanna [state secretariat] wants some people, while some others seek Nabanna's support. In this, our demand is getting lost. We want nothing but justice." He also urged protesters to join a protest march till the Kolkata Police's headquarters at Lalbazar and seek the Commissioner's resignation.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Kinjal Nanda earned his MBBS degree from KPC Medical College and Hospital in Jadavpur, Kolkata, in 2010. He has been a post-graduate resident MD in Microbiology at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital since 2023.
