Rain Likely To Bring Relief From Intense Heatwave In UP, But Breather Will Be Short

Western UP may see light rain and thunderstorms today, according to the weather department.

UP Weather News: The weather in Uttar Pradesh is set to change from today, with a Western Disturbance bringing in light rain. This could somewhat offset the impact of the intense heatwave that's been baking northwest and Central India over the past week. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several districts in both the western and eastern regions of the state are expected to get rain and light showers on Thursday.

The rain spell is expected to continue for the next two to three days, which may provide some relief from the heat. However, the relief will likely be short-lived, cautioned weather experts. After April 13, the weather will once again become dry and hot.

According to the IMD, light rain is likely in parts of western UP on Thursday, accompanied by thunder and lightning, along with strong surface winds blowing at a speed of 20-30 km per hour. Similar weather conditions are expected in the eastern region. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in some areas

Strong gusty winds may cause inconvenience to people. Rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds are also likely in several districts on Friday and Saturday.

Temperature Likely To Drop

The rain will also affect the rising temperatures; a decrease of 2-4 degrees Celsius in the maximum temperature is expected over the next two days. However, no significant change is expected in the minimum temperature. Rain is forecast today in several places across the state, including Baghpat, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Budaun, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Sitapur, Barabanki, Lucknow, Unnao, Kanpur Nagar, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Sultanpur, Jaunpur, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Ghazipur, Chandauli and Sonbhadra.

Meanwhile, several places in districts such as Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Shravasti, Gonda, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar and Maharajganj will get rain with thunderstorms and lightning. In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 42.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jhansi, while Agra recorded 42, Prayagraj 40.2 and the capital Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius.
