UP: SP Leaders Protest Outside Vidhan Sabha Over Sambhal Violence, Paper Leaks

Samajwadi Party members protested outside the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on the first day of its winter session, raising issues such as paper leaks and violence in Sambhal.

Samajwadi Party leaders held a protest outside the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Monday the first day of its winter session. The leaders of the opposition party sat with posters protesting against several issues including paper leaks and violence in Sambhal.

The Winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha is expected to witness discussion on various key issues affecting the state. Sambhal violence, anti-encroachment drive, preparation of Mahakumbh, and irregularities in hospitals to avoid incidents similar to the Jhansi fire are some of the issues which are going to be taken up during the winter session proposed to be held till December 20.

"Today the winter session of the UP Assembly is starting. I welcome all the members of the House," Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Monday.

" It is a matter of pride that the country is moving forward with PM Modi's hopes of creating a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047 and Uttar Pradesh is playing a big role in it... Uttar Pradesh is the land of freedom fighters... Under the leadership of PM Modi, Uttar Pradesh has reached new heights of development in the last 7.5 years...," he added.

On Sunday, the UP CM convened an all-party meeting with leaders of different parties ahead of the winter session and called for the cooperation of all for the efficient functioning of the House.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said there will be proper discussions on various areas and the state will move forward on the path of development.

The winter session is taking place just weeks after violence marred Sambhal district, killing four people, over a court-ordered survey of a mosque. A court in Sambhal had ordered a survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid in the district on a plea claiming the Mughal-era mosque was built on a temple site.
